Our proven methodology is based on years of real world experience in complicated migration testing projects. It’s a comprehensive formula that provides you with high quality software, shorter implementation time, and minimal risks.

1. Test Planning

This step formally defines test objectives, strategy and detailed test instructions:

Software Test Plan (STP) The STP includes mainly:

Test environment definitions.   Test levels and test types to be executed.   Test SOW (Scope of Work) which includes list of elements to tested.   Time frame, resources and requirements.

Software Test Description (STD) The STD describes the test scenarios in details, step by step (including prerequisite conditions) and specifies the expected results according to the migration rules.

2. Test Development

Functional and regression test At this stage automated test scripts for online screens and batch tests are developed (using automated test tools) according to specifications of the STD. Test scripts generate automated test sets that may be repeatedly and swiftly executed without human intervention.

Data migration tests During this phase, data tests are developed. These tests will include the preparation of:

Record count   Fields aggregation   File compare according to the migration rules

3. Test execution

Once migration process is completed, the tests will begin according to the following sequence:

Execute migration programs on the source database, load result data to the target test environment   Conduct data migration tests   Execute the automated test scripts on the target test environment

4. Test Management and defect tracking

The test effort includes tools to effectively manage the test process. Timing and results of test sets executions are maintained and reported. For each test failure, the tool records and reports information that is used to track defects resolution and to monitor the progress and overall status of the execution of the test plan.
