| Count on a Proven
Data Warehouse Testing Methodology Based on Real World Experience. |
| |
| Tesnet Group’s REST ASSURED!
Data Warehouse™ solution is based upon our proprietary
methodology that delivers consistently remarkable results. Our
proven methodology is based on years of real world experience
in complicated Data Warehouse testing projects. It’s a
comprehensive formula that provides you with high quality software,
shorter implementation time, and minimal risks. |
| |
| REST ASSURED! Data Warehouse™
Methodology |
| Our tests for your data warehouse
cover both the sensitive process of data extraction from the
legacy system and the load to the data warehouse, as well as
the display of this information to the end user. |
| |
| Test levels of the data retrieval
process |
 |
| There are four levels in
testing data extraction and ETL (extract, transform, load) processes: |
 |
|
Single file extraction tests, where
we test the extraction of single files |
| |
|
 |
|
Entire set of the ETL
extractions rules are defined and tested for
each file |
 |
 |
|
Initial extraction tests
and delta data extraction tests |
 |
 |
|
ETL transformation rules (mostly
complicated ones) for
transforming files to the final format of the data
warehouse |
 |
 |
|
ETL load rules for the final load
of data to the warehouse |
|
 |
 |
|
Relations between tables
Here, we examine the reliability of relations between
tables (data integrity) within the ETL load process. Our
objective is to ensure that your data integrity is maintained
in the data warehouse regardless of the loading sequence
of the processes within the ETL. |
 |
 |
|
Historical data change test
A significant feature of your data warehouse is your ability
to manage and present the history of all changes made
to an entity (for example, the entire history of address
changes of customers). Because managing historical data
and retrieving the correct picture of an entity for a
given time frame has always been a weak point among programmers,
we consider it a challenge and give strict attention to
all possibilities. This is the reason we focus our tests
on the way history records are managed and presented. |
 |
 |
|
Test “live” and full
data
Until this point, our test designs have been based on
creating data under “laboratory conditions”
to examine maximum population possibilities with minimum
test cases. These tests include extreme conditions as
well various combinations of the data population.
However, we must also test your system to see whether
it works properly with a massive data population. Furthermore,
you may assume the real population includes corrupted
data or cases not handled by the rules. |
 |
 |
|
Display and use of data warehouse
information
To complete the test, we test the reports, queries, views,
OLAP cubes, EIS tools and other means of displaying and
using the information in the data warehouse. These tests
will validate the correctness of the information provided
to the end user. During this stage, and due to the high
processing demands of displaying data warehouse information,
we perform load testing in order to ensure adequate response
time. |

| Integrative Testing Automation |
Automated testing tools are an
integral component of our REST ASSURED! Data Warehouse™
Methodology. Tesnet Group uses leading automated testing tools,
and augments them with our proprietary SMART Functions™;
an elaborate set of utilities that allow us to maximize the
power of market-ready tools, and accelerate the testing process
while increasing effectiveness.
By combining automated testing tools with Tesnet Group’s
SMART Functions™, you’ll enjoy shorter implementation
time and increased test coverage, and significantly cut human
resource use.
